The history of Beyond Wonderland extends back before its inaugural 2010 date. The first festival was held at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, California. Insomniac Events announced the conception of Beyond Wonderland to be considered as the sister festival of Nocturnal Wonderland (formerly known as Nocturnal Festival). It seemed as Nocturnal matured, the environment became considerably different.[according to whom?] Fans of Insomniac Events called for a return to the past vibrant environment that the Nocturnal Festival once hailed. Insomniac believed Beyond Wonderland could provide this environment.
The festival features multiple stages of electronic dance music artists with such genres as: House, Trance, Dubstep, Drum and Bass, and ambient. The festival has also been known for features such as a light maze, many modern art sculptures, and poi dancers.
With only just days to go before dance fans congregate underneath the ‘Electric Sky’ of EDC, Insomniac is already creating hype for another trademark event.
Fresh off of Twitter, the company has announced that Beyond Wonderland will be returning up north to the Bay Area this September 20 and 21 at the Shoreline Amphitheater. Leading the charge will be main stage heroes and Insomniac favorites Above & Beyond and Kaskade, who will headline Saturday and Sunday night, respectively.
Given that the aforementioned have each made news quite recently – Kaskade announcing a new music portal for his non-label-conforming productions, while the trance trio have announced a marquee night at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden – we expect these guys will blow the lid off the Bay come September.
More line-up is to be announced soon, but with past years hosting sets from all corners of dance music from Afrojack and High Contrast to Dash Berlin and Damian Lazarus, it’s safe to say Insomniac won’t be leaving any bases uncovered.
